First Nations Inuit Child Care Initiative Funding

First Nation Inuit Child Care Initiative Funding under ASETS

Wii-ni n’guch-tood LMS administers the First Nations Inuit Child Care Initiative funding which provides access to:

  • Child care services and parents who are starting new employment or participating in training programs; and
  • Funding for pre-school spaces and after-school programming.
First Nation Inuit Child Care Initiative Funding

Hub Centre

The funding supports the enhancement/enrichment of programming in the following areas: toddler / pre-school program costs; maintenance equipment costs; special needs resource / training material costs / books; language and cultural enrichment costs; policy and procedure development costs; and staff salary wage enhancements.

Jr. School

The Wikwemikong Jr. School and Hub Centre require additional support costs for the After-School Program. Services act as an extension of basic childcare for working parents. Includes wages for 2 Program Assistances and overhead costs.

To support the graphic designer/illustrator position for the Anishnaabemowin Curriculum Department

Wikwemikong Heritage Organization

Support for the local school system, review current challenges in the Anishnaabemowin JK immersion program. To provide land-based teachings and activities to the school systems. Determine how community organizations can better support the school system immersion program and what future supports will be needed for land-based learning for children and teachers.
